Grand Knight, Bill
Bassett...

Brothers,
As we begin to wind down the summer we’ll start
witnessing a change of seasons and not just in the weather, but also a
change in the tempo of Council activities.
In July we wrapped up another successful Blood Drive.
Our point man, Brother Tom Stanton, worked with St Matthews and he
reported SEAS parishioners made up nearly 75% of the day’s donors,
donating almost 50 units of blood to this very important cause. He also
said this was a remarkable showing of parishioners, particularly during
the summer when most families are vacationing. Of course, it helped
that the Knights stepped up again and ensured we had plenty of
after-Mass sign-up representatives and hosts to help with the event.
About a dozen Knights pitched in to help Tom in this life-saving event.
Great job all!
In August we’ve got a couple of events that will again
require selflessness and charity! As with every month, we’ll start
with All (K)night Adoration on the evening and morning hours of 1-2
August. If you can’t make a sacrifice with other council events this
month, find 1 hour to spend in mediation with our Lord. I hear 3:00 AM
is usually open and it’s a relatively small sacrifice to make.
Our monthly business meeting will be convened on 5 August
at 7:30 PM in the upper hall. I hope to see you there.
Between 11-15 August, Knight-manpower will have to step
forward and help PGK Tom Nowicki collect items for the annual Flea
Market Sale. The collections will be conducted between 6-8 PM, but if
you can’t help during the week, he’ll need manpower on the 16th (6 AM -
1 PM) to help sell and move the items. The sale will be conducted in
the back parking lot of the church.
Lastly, the Parish picnic will be held on 24 August at
Bristow. We need Knights with trucks to move our grill, tables and
other items from the church to the picnic site. Then later we’ll need
Knights again to tear-down and return all the items to the church
afterwards. This picnic will also serve as the Welcoming party for
Fathers Meng and Searby. If you plan on attending, volunteer to take
something with you to help your brother Knights (or return something
afterwards).
Finally, many of you will be contacted in the coming
weeks and months as part of my campaign to contact every Knight in the
Council. We want to ensure every Knight is doing well and determine how
we can increase your interests in Council activities. I’m interested
in your opinions; what are your expectations of the Council? How can we
help you serve the Council and the parish? What are we doing right,
what are we doing wrong? I look forward to hearing the results of your
answers.
Again, we’re helping one another on our faith journeys.
If you can afford one hour, two hours or multiple hours to help the
Council, I appreciate your selflessness. Get involved…we want, we need
your help!
Vivat Jesus!
